During lockdown, social ties were reduced, causing many to miss valuable precious moments like births. To allow the family to have a feeling of the newborn, personalized bags of rice were sent. Naruo Ono, Manager of the Kome no Zoto Yoshimiy rice store, drew from his own experience of being far from family during the birth of his first child to make a rice bag with the baby's image. After placing the little "rice statue" in his shop window, customers requested their own rice babies. The customizable rice bags take the shape of a newborn baby wrapped in a patterned blanket. The shape and weight are obviously intended to make families feel like they are hugging and cradling the child. To make it as realistic as possible, the bags are the same weight as the babies with a picture of their face printed on the package.
