The Rev Canon Andy Bryant at Norwich Cathedral began placing tiny crosses on the church’s floor in June 2020 to mark the death toll of COVID in Norfolk, England. In January 2021, deaths from the pandemic in Norfolk passed 1,000, and Rev Bryant added 180 crosses in one week. In the centre of the crosses burns a small flame, blessed by the Bishop of Norwich.
