Moschino’s Spring/Summer 2021 womenswear fashion show replaced its usual runway models with with modish marionettes. The show, titled No Strings Attached, sought to convey a world turned upside down and inside out. In keeping with these aims, the marionettes donned tiny versions of 40 Moschino looks designed to reveal and revel in the trims and seams of each outfit. Creative director Jeremy Scott says the collection was inspired by the way in which “in 2020, the apparatuses of what we know have been largely exposed.” Each look was designed with a view to bringing the “inner workings” of garments to the spotlight. Jeremy Scott created each doll-sized dress while the marionette puppets were designed by Muppets creator The Jim Henson Company Creature Shop. The show even featured a front-row in miniature, including Vogue editors Anna Wintour and Edward Einninful.
