Rigorously designed in collaboration with Northern Ireland’s Department of Health, this contact tracing app for Northern Ireland meets Web content Accessibility Guidelines standards, communicates COVID test results to users directly from HSCresult, and uses Apple and Google’s “decentralised” Exposure Notification API in order to protect users’ data privacy. The designers also worked with behavioural scientists to tailor the language used in the app, encouraging users to think of themselves as ‘active participants’ in stopping the virus by protecting their loved ones and community.
