Speaking to a Bloomberg reporter, Kellen Tse, the Deputy General Manager of a smart drone company in Shenzhen explained how such devices were vital in the fight against COVID-19. Taking off vertically and transitting to anywhere in the city, the drones are equipped with an optical zoom camera which allows them to monitor when people are congregating in large groups in public spaces, and alert police to break them up. It is also capable of broadcasting social distance safety messages to people through a loudspeaker if they are seen to be flouting the rules.
