Keen to encourage gamblers back, a casino in Florida has designed circular perspex screen to wrap around playing tables. Players can insert their hands through the bottom of the screen to interact with cards, but they’re protected from coughs and sneezes from their torso up. Whether such measures create a safe playing environment has been contested. Some have questioned how dealers will sanitise chips and cards, others have suggested players will be able to cheat by looking at their opponent’s hand in the reflection of the perspex. One particularly disgruntled Twitter user put it plainly: ‘This doesn't even look like a fun way to lose your money. Think I'll be passing on the casinos until this pandemic has passed.’
