Rwandan biomedical engineers from the Integrated Polytechnic Regional College Kigali (IPRC) have designed the country’s first ventilator to battle COVID-19. Prior to this landmark achievement, Rwandan citizen infected by the virus were relying upon imported machines. The team of engineers responsible for the project told FURTHER AFRICA that the machines currently take eight days to produce. However, they are hopeful that, with additional support, they will be able to reduce this to just three days.
