291 Leaf UV transparent mask

Date: June 2020
Design by: Redcliffe Medical Devices

Leaf’s transparent face masks are designed with reusable and recyclable materials and include a HEPA and UV-C filter that will self-sterilise the mask for up to one month. Still a conceptual design, the masks have not been manufactured as of autumn 2020.

There have been outcries from Leaf’s crowdfunding backers regarding the viability of the product and criticising the company’s slow responses and non-existent shipments. More generally, concerns have been raised over consumer protection during the pandemic, including the potential for companies to take advantage of vulnerable consumers.
