Loon is 'a network of stratospheric balloons designed to bring Internet connectivity to rural and remote communities worldwide.' The project—which has been in the making for 2 years already—has been fast-tracked to enable more Kenyans to make voice and video calls during the pandemic. Initially launched in the US, the 35 solar-powered balloons will make their way to eastern Africa using wind currents.
