A nineteen-year-old engineering student called Freshta, based in Kabul, is responsible for redesigning the carts which were originally used to dispatch food. The social enterprise NGO Ebtakar has helped her transform her design into a franchise—now over 100 women are driving these repurposed vehicles, ‘disinfecting cars, shops and community areas, and giving out free masks, gloves and sanitiser.’
