Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, and illustrator. His latest digital design titled 'Guts not Glory' honours medical staff on the frontline during the coronavirus pandemic. Talking to Hypebeast the founder of OBEY Clothing explains that he's been 'inspired to glorify those who don’t seek glory, but rather to serve humanity when it is most challenged.' He hopes that his portrait emanates 'the comforting warmth and empathy healthcare workers provide in the midst of anxiety and crisis.' Collaborating with multinational computer software company Adobe, Fairey's digital illustration sits alongside other well-known artist contributions by the likes of Aaron Draplin, Donna Adi, Jessica Walsh, and Ignasi Monreal. In addition to the $3 million USD commitment pledged to organisations supporting communities around the world, Adobe is also pledging an additional $250,000 to Direct Relief, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organisation with a stated mission to 'improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergency situations by mobilising and providing essential medical resources needed for their care.'
